MP21 Bumble Bee

Postby davehammer » Wed Mar 12, 2014 5:54 am

Pre-order price for MP21 Bumble Bee @ $63NZD a pc + shipping from Hong Kong
Pre-order deadline is 29th March
Require a deposit of $15NZD to my Kiwi Bank account before the deadline

MP21 comes with not only our beloved Bee in his puny MP glory but also a transformable Daniel in the Exo-Suit he used in the movie.
The scheduled release date is November 2014

It is difficult for me predict the exact shipping cost as there are no info available on this toy's size or weight yet.
However, it should not exceed MP17-19's, so I'll just use theirs as tentative postage table ,if it ends up being lower I'll re-adjust it when release time comes

**Shipping cost revised**

1 PC: $25
2 PC: $25
3 PC: $31.5
4 PC: $31.5
5 PC: $38
6 PC: $38

I wanna take this opportunity to thank SSNZ and you guys for the support of opening a sub forum for me!

Also I would like to get you guys' opinions on which ver you'd prefer I get and give you a bit more info.

Some of you may know, these Takara Tomy Masterpiece toys are actually a bit different depending on the distributor.
In the past, I've always went with the Japanese parallel imports, mainly because I personally don't care for the coins, I always go for the Jap version toys whenever possible and lately the low yen has made this option more attractive.
However, with MP12G I went with the HK version and manged to get the collector's coins, while some of you were really stoked about getting the coin, some of you were indifferent about it.
So I thought rather than me deciding for you guys, I'll try to explain pros and cons of respective versions without boring you guys too much and let you decide for yourself.

Traditionally the Japanese release would always be more sort after and cost a bit more for these Japanese origin toys as oppose to the Hong Kong or South East Asia versions.
Some elitists insist on buying Japanese versions only (though this is more common among Soul of Chogokin collectors)
There is a common believe that even the toys are usually made in China or Vietnam under the same factories, the QC on the Japanese version would be better.
From my personal experience, I think QC is more hit and miss.
However, I do more often see Japanese version being double taped (meaning the product was checked again for defects) on one side of the box than the other versions.
Then again, this is completely random and vary from batch to batch.
Japanese versions DO NOT guarantee perfect QC.
The down side of the Jap version is that they will never come with the collector's coin since the coins are made by Hasbro Asia not Takara Tomy.

The version distributed by Hasbro Hong Kong is virtually identical, they are legit, they still have the same stickers of authenticity, they still come in the same MP black box packaging and they still have the same accessories.
There might be an extra Chinese/English bilingual sheet in there somewhere with local distributor info on it and a different set of serial pins on the bottom of the box.
I probably can't even tell them apart just by looking at an unopened one without the carton box.
The HK version usually come with a collector's coin, however the coin is rarely part of the solicitation (The "Asia Exclusives" being the exceptions) and they are not obligated to give me the coins or even do a coin at all.
There is no written agreement on the coin and they are normally announced just moments before release.
However, there has been collector coins for every MP release since MP09 Rodimus Convoy (and some Encores too) and I don't see it stopping with Bee.
With that said, there are many suppliers who choose to take the coins out and sell them separately or charge people extra for them but I'm quite confident the supplier I've been using won't do that to me.
In any case, I can promise you guys that if you do go with the HK ver and the coin comes at no extra cost to me, I will include them free of charge (though having a whole bunch of coins in the parcel might slightly bump up the shipping cost but nothing major)

Anyway, before I get way out of topic and keep rambling on, here is how it stand.
For MP Bumble Bee both versions cost pretty much the same to me and you guys can choose between the Japanese or Hasbro HK version and I'll arrange them accordingly.
Depending of how you guys feel about this, I might keep throwing these options out there in the future or if it is too confusing or you guys don't really care one way or the other, I can decide for you.

Feel free to shoot questions, I'll be more than happy to answer :D

Put me down for one Dave. As for Japanese or HK… I don't care about the coin so would be happy with Japanese.

Can you put me down for 1 and use the money from the Huff which fell through?

"The Huff" lol (sounds like "the Hoff" nickname of a certain famous someone).

The coin doesn't worry me in the least (wouldn't say no if it was included), I'd simply vote for the cheapest version. I'm yet to find a way to usefully display the coin (can't take it out of it's casing for example).

Put me down for 1 tentatively (still debating if I want an MP Bee or not). If AH is getting one we will combine postage.

I've sorted the list of potential takers by areas to make shipping arrangement easier.
Let me know if I've got you down incorrectly or if you don't want to combine shipping.

Come to think of it, I don't have nearly that long to get my order through...
So I'm revising the cut off date to 29-March

Remember the coin is not guaranteed but I'll try my best to include it for you ;)

Sure Mr.D, sorry about not being able to get old timer Huff, I was looking forward to The Huff myself :(
