KLUG Inaugural Japan Brickfest - June 2015

Postby Old_Timer » Tue Jun 09, 2015 4:08 am

So I was invited to help with the running of my friend's Lego User Group's exhibition. His group, KLUG (Kansai Lego User Group) began last year with just a couple of enthusiasts, but it has grown quite quickly to include some of the most talented builders in Japan. They have held exhibitions before, but this was the first one considered a national exhibition. I can say I know nothing at all about Lego, but I will certainly be assisting with the exhibition again if I am asked to help out. Some of the displays were really amazing, and included pieces by national competition winners as well as pieces by people from Hong Kong, Korea, America, Australia and New Zealand. Over the next few days I will share some photos from the event. I'd also like to invite anybody here who is interested to become involved with KLUG to please join up through their Facebook page... and to let you guys know that everybody is welcome to take part.

To start with, here is a picture of a dog, built by Schneider Cheung of Hong Kong.

I'll be sharing many more here, but my Flickr account will have the photos up faster than I can share here.

Cheers guys, but there is a lot more to come. Just don't have a lot of time to do it all at once. Some of it really is incredible. A very cool Mad Max setup is one of my favourites, along with the dog that I have already posted.

Just the other day I was looking at an old brochure from a Lego tour back in the 80's that I went to at the old Farmers in Auckland and was thinking how far Lego design has come since then - these pics show that the amateurs are absolutely crushing what the professionals used to do back then. Well done and thanks for sharing!

I always liked Lego but would never have called myself an enthusiast... owning two very small sets when I was a child. But now... yes I have definitely been influenced by this event.
