Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Wish I could have seen the livestream (or better, been at Celebration in person) but I have seen the new teaser and it does certainly ramp up my interest in the film while still remaining incredibly vague about anything that's actually happening plot-wise. It's certainly interesting to note that the Star Wars YouTube channel said it was the second teaser, so I get the feeling we're still waiting for at least one full trailer to clue us in.
I loved seeing more glimpses of the new Imperial forces (I'm a sucker for a cool uniform), though I'm not too keen on what looks like their logo - looks like they took Marvel's Midnight Sons logo and made it more boring. I keep getting a vibe that Kylo Ren will turn out to be Luke Skywalker, but I really hope I'm wrong about that - I'd like one childhood hero to remain unsullied by the passage of time.Han & Chewie's appearance was great and exactly the tease we needed to see, but for me the heart of it was Luke's voiceover - I think it may just have been completely reused from Return of the Jedi, but it set the tone so well and it'll be fun to see how straight they play it with what they seem like they're referring to. It was great to see the Falcon in action again, and the crashed Star Destroyer was a great image.
Great trailer season right now, what with this, Ant-Man, Terminator, etc!

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Got the chills from watching it.
Visually looks like the first 3, new hope etc and the feel of those movies as well. As apposed to the over cgi of the later ones.
I thought the special effects were so well integrated they felt seem less.

Dissecting the trailer from a film fx angle, we see proper painted matte paintings, miniature sets and ships. Thank you JJ!

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Star Wars Underworld has a story about James Arnold Taylor's on-stage interview with Mark Hamill during Celebration, which included this fun fact:
"And when asked if he had seen the new trailer for The Force Awakens prior to it's premiere Thursday morning, Hamill revealed that he had indeed watched it a week earlier when he went to Bad Robot studios to record the now infamous voice over heard in the trailer. Hamill went on to confirm that even though the lines in the trailer were pulled from Return Of The Jedi, he had re-recorded those same lines which J.J. Abrams & crew had combined to create a reverberation of Luke's voice in the trailer."

Looking forward to some good old fashion lightsaber duels, Kylo Ren interests me a lot. Sith and the knights, whats gonna happen?!?
