Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Postby green dragoon » Mon Aug 11, 2014 2:36 pm

Anybody else see this?

I went to it on Saturday and boy it was a good movie, well written, well paced, top notch CGI and it doesn't get much better than seeing an ape riding a horse welding dual machine guns :D

I would say its one of my top two movies this year tied with the Winter Soldier.

Rise of the planet of the apes was very good but Dawn is even better.

Y'know, I was never a fan of the Planet of the Apes franchise - it just seemed like a silly idea that had been played out over way too many films. But the reboot with Rise and it's continuation in Dawn really have been fascinating, well crafted and superbly acted pieces. Dawn was great - excellent acting, especially Andy as Caesar (dude is the king of mocap), with great rounded characters on all sides and a really daring script that doesn't give everyone the happy ending that most films would go for. I now really hope that we get another film in this series - don't know where they can take it but it would be great to see more of this world and characters.
