2012 TMNT toys

Postby soak314 » Sun Jan 20, 2013 10:27 am

Is anybody else waiting for the local release of the new Playmates TMNT line?

I've been on the lookout for them since the cartoon started up last year. No luck yet so far. There's always online stores, but at the rate they're going for (~$20 per turtle without shipping) I think I'll just bide time until local retail.

Tempting, they are/will be.

Mighty Ape has some preorders for the end of this month, those prices... are pretty good?

Pretty good indeed.

I was all psyched up to pay Deluxe prices for each, wasn't expecting them to go for what's practically the american retail price. Color me amused.

Sorely tempted to pre-order all four right now.

Zippo found them at Toyworld for $15 each so they're already here - just a question of how long it takes them to filter out to the rest of the market. Definitely great toys - I highly recommend them!

Manukau Toyworld doesn't have them yet, dropped by there a couple of days ago. Hoping Farmers/Warehouse gets a lot of stock, as this is a very kid friendly line and I can see it selling out really quick once available. The significantly lower price point's another big draw.

I'm hoping the price really does bring in the crowds and show that kids are still interested in toys, it's just that they're being ridiculously priced in this market.

That said, if the Mighty Ape prices are anything to go by, the vehicles and playsets are still on the mighty pricey side...

That playset is pricey, but from all I have seen, worth every penny and you better have some spare time to assemble it all.

I've seen these in a few places around Auckland over the last few days. In a nutshell: Warehouse and Whitcoulls prices are the same as the list prices advertised on Mighty Ape, i.e. basic figures are selling for $14.99. That certainly makes the $12.99 discounted price on Mighty Ape competitive. Powersound figures may be more expensive at The Warehouse, and I didn't get a price on the vehicle w/figure sets. Didn't see the large playset anywhere.

Warehouse New Lynn has pretty much everything. I don't recall seeing the Powersound figures.

Warehouse Airport had Powersound figures and roleplay stuff as of Monday.

Whitcoulls St Lukes has basic figures, basic vehicles, and the Shellraiser (didn't see the price on the latter).

The turtles are certainly tempting, but it looks like all the articulation has been invested in them. The turtles will undoubtedly be popular with children/parents buying for children, but who knows, maybe the affordable price + size + array of weapons will make the whole line a success here in NZ.

Basic figs and Powersounds in Warehouse Manukau. 14.99 a pop for the basics, 29.99 for the larger Powersounds.

They've also got the roleplay stuff, Splinter, and April. Didn't quite notice if they had any of the vehicles.

Picked up a Raph, and I heartily recommend them. He's solid and sturdy, very well sculpted and just impossible to put in a boring pose. I've got Donnie and Mikey pre-ordered, and will probably pick up a Leo next week.

Judging by the difference in stock I saw a couple days ago at the Warehouse compared to today, they seem to be selling very well!

This makes me happy. All kids should know and love the turtles!
i am great at signatures

If/when anyone knows the Anchovy Alley playset enters the country, let the forum know.

Wave 2 spotted in Farmers, Westfield Manukau. That's Dogpound, Fishface, and the one most of us will probably be scrambling for, Metalhead.

I think I'll wait for the Toyworld/Warehouse releases for a plausible $2 off.
