The 'I love MTMTE' thread

Postby Starscream NZ » Sat Jul 27, 2013 4:30 pm

Since this forum is a bit of a barren wasteland, I figure the best way to re-ignite discussion on it is to talk about the best-damned-thing to happen to TF comics since....forever, really.

So, whose dying to see what happens in the next issue? With the revelation of Minimus Ambus' identity and the debut of Star Saber, it seems like there'll be more questions than answers before we get to the 'Dark Cybertron' saga of storytelling.

Maybe I should start reading comics again, sounds like this is a good series.
Do people get the physical issues (trades/collected editions) or go for digital these days

I download the single issues then buy the physical TPBs when they're released.

It is a very good series.

If I read, its through the digital ones on the iPad. Just got waay too many comics from the eighties/nineties sitting in boxes at home to want to get more.

I read the last stand of the wreckers which everyone said was amazing. It was ok, not amazing. I really liked Rotorstorm in in though.

I read a bit of IDW stuff and really loved that arc with Superion eating a nuke and Devastator eating Prime's firepower but stopped reading after I hit a few issues of War Within.

Haven't touched the new stuff mainly due to what Spike said about LSotW. I enjoyed it but it wasn't as brilliant as everyone makes out. I found it rather boring at times to be honest.

MTMTE sounds quite fun so I may give it a shot it's just that I don't like Rodimus at all.

P.s. Why is he Rodimus if Prime had the matrix? Read he ran away as Orion Pax.

MTMTE is seriously excellent. I wouldn't worry too much if you dislike Rodimus, the rest of the crew more than make up for it!

(Whirl is awesome)

Funnily enough, out of all the 'sad' stories:

*SPOILERS*

I found Swerve's ongoing 'friendship' with Blurr the saddest. A sad little moment that really made me think about the character. Of course, it didn't have the same emotional impact of say, Rewind + Chromedome, but I really enjoyed it.

I'm not much of a comics reader, but I'm enjoying the hell out of this series!
i am great at signatures

You might be confusing Dreamwave with IDW - two different companies.

I love LSOTW, I thought it was a great action story, but you appreciate it more when you read MTMTE as the story continues on from there in many respects. To be fair, RiD is also a good, solid series, it just isn't as strong as MTMTE is. Rodimus isn't a favourite of mine by any means, but i'm thoroughly enjoying him in MTMTE, the cast is superbly dynamic and fun. The great thing about this series is the spotlight getting shone on so many D-list/nobody characters who finally get a chance to shine.

And yes, Whirl is just the best thing ever.

Downloaded my first comic last night and quite like how it works
May have to look into getting the IDW Series now, a few at a time in order to minimise spending.

Have a heap of single comics from Dreamwave to mid 2008 (maybe slightly later) IDW in the garage collecting dust.

Well worth getting digitally if you've got a tablet - the artwork is awesome, and cheap back issues!

Did you start on MTMTE #1?

If possible, i'd recommend reading LSTOW, Chaos and Death of Optimus Prime as good lead ins, as there's a lot of storylines that start in those comics that work their way into MTMTE. By no means essential, but add to the richness of the story MTMTE takes.

I started with death of optimus prime - I was following the ongoing right up until chaos - and that is probably the best starting point for both MTMTE and RID

Is anyone else following both series?
