Anyone interested in a mobile version of TFNZ?

Postby onslaught86 » Fri Apr 09, 2010 8:17 pm

Hey guys,

I'm a fan of wanky Windows Mobile phones, and do most of my internetting from them whilst on the go these days. I've been considering putting together a mod for TFNZ that'll either take the form of a skin or an auto-device detect, and am keen on getting people's ideas and input. :)
Few ideas I've had thus far:

- I'd personally prefer an autodetect system to save choosing the skin, though I'd like to have an option to switch to full if need be. Anyone who's used TradeMe mobile is likely to appreciate this.

- The mobile version would preferably be optimised to access the most useful forums whilst on the go. I'm thinking News, Sightings, Buy/Sell/Trade, and General Discussion.

- Ideally there'd be a suitable image uploader, or links to photobucket/imageshack et al to make it easier to post sightings/hauls whilst on the go.

So, thoughts?

I am conceptually interested. But not sure that I would use it enough to make it worth your time.

A Mobile version would be most welcome as I do a lot of internet stuff from my mobile. I already view the TFNZ site from my phone but its a bit hard as Opera re-arranges the images and layout.
do, or do not. There is no try

I had a brief look at this when I was updating the forum software, apparently it's just a matter of using a custom forum style and a little code to determine if you're on a mobile device. Doesn't seem like a major project at all.

Hahaha, I'm 12 and what is this? Nice!

I know there is some young fans on this site (hence the reason you put that as a vote option) and the idea would be great, but to be honest with you I would use my computer at work or at home to check out the site and keep up to date because its free. I would most likely use this option for when I'm traveling, but lately I have to much workload to travel :(

A mobile version would be great only if those dam providers would make up a better data plan for mobile broadband.

I usually TFNZ from my phone so this would be perfect.
